I have been seeing purple everywhere. There’s splashes of purple in my closet, I just bought a pair of purple socks, decided to paint my nails lilac and last week at the hair salon the woman sitting next to me was dying her hair purple.

Note to friends and family- For all of you that have watched the ever changing pallet of my hair color, not to worry,  I’m not that “brave” yet.

This invasion of purple reminded me that when I was a kid purple was indeed my favorite color.  My first bicycle had a purple banana seat, grape was my favorite flavor tootsie roll pop and if purple potatoes existed back then I’d of been all over that.  Luckily I dodged the “not cool bullet” because I was too old for Barney, but I did LOVE DINO and he was cool and purple too.  Yabba dabba do!

So what does all this have to do with energy healing?  The color purple is associated with the third eye, our 6th sense . It is the center of imagination and intuition.  Intuition is inherent in all of us and is much stronger when we are younger and less restricted by our beliefs.

I have to wonder if that little girl watching the Flintstones and riding her bicycle was already tapping into something.

What is your favorite color?  Do certain colors make you feel good?  Are there colors that you don’t like at all?

Some colors are vibrant, and energizing, while others may give you a sense of peace, calm and relaxation.  Colors are also associated with the seven chakras, the energy centers in your body.

When you see REDhow does that make you feel?  If you need a boost in energy or confidence wear red. Red is a great color for business meetings or if you desire more passion in your life, wear red. Avoid red if you have high blood pressure or get angry easily.  The root chakra is associated with the color redand relates to issues of family safety, survival.

ORANGE represents the sacral chakra and is the center of our emotions. If you tend to be overly emotional, orange may not be the best color for you right now, but if you have a difficult time expressing your emotions add orange to your diet and your closet before you have that conversation. Orangealso appeals to outgoing people who like to socialize.

The solar plexus chakra is the center of our mindsets, stories and beliefs. Add more YELLOW in your life if you have feelings of low confidence and self esteem but when you find yourself getting too cocky, it may be time to tone down the yellow.

The Heart Chakra is about love and relationships. The color of the heart chakra is GREEN.  Want to stimulate more love in your life, try adding plants to your personal and work space.  Walk barefoot in the grass.  The green colors in nature enhance our feelings of love and connection.  Take a hike with someone you love.

BLUE represents the throat chakra which is about communication and self expression. If you tend to find yourself stuffing what you want to say, try blue on for size.  Know someone who talks a lot, has opinions about everything? Send them some love and buy them a plant.

INDIGO/PURPLE  corresponds to the brow chakra which is about intuition, creativity and imagination.  If you want to enhance your intuition, bring in the colors INDIGO or PURPLE.   People drawn to the color PURPLE are usually artistic, sensitive, unconventional and highly individual.  Purple may also be a good color for you if you suffer from headaches. chakra zebra 2

WHITE represents the seventh Crown Chakra, just above the head. It contains the color of all of the other chakras. The crown is the center of spirituality and our connection to the Divine.  Individuals with large crown chakras can appear ungrounded and not comfortable in their bodies.  Individuals that are seeking a greater connection with a higher power may want to add white into their life especially when participating in any type of healing work.
